“Changemaker Kid” Newspaper Project

As a way to practice the art and science of writing, Laura Marble’s elementary students worked with community partner and journalist, Shannon Conner.  Shannon taught the children the basics of interviewing people and writing newspaper stories. She did one-on-one editing with the students and also led a field trip to a local printing press where students could see real-world news in the making.

Their final product, a newspaper named “Changemaker Kid,” described volunteer opportunities in Pima County for children.
